1.4.2-edge available for download.
i586 now supported on both edge and stable.

I've updated scarlet.nl source with a small website. what do you think?

Tomorrow maybe AMD64.

LiveCDs become to rock.

PostPosted: Sat Sep 11, 2004 9:35 pm    Post subject: Kernel config? Reply with quote

Could you please post (or upload somewhere) the config you used for compiling 2.6.8-nitro5-livecd from 1.4-stable?
I'm having problems with getting vesafb and (I suspect) acpi to work with 2.6.9-rc1-mm4. It simply ignores the vga= option, and closing the lid of the laptop (or switching the screen off with the key combo) completely freezes the system.
When I use the kernel from the livecd, everything works fine, so I suspect I got some config options wrong. If you don't have the old config any more, upload a newer one, I could give it a try anyways.

TIA,
Oliver

1.4.2 seems to be working great.

My little Pentium is currently bootstrapping itself with the gcc34 profile. I'd give you an update, but this usually takes days. :P

If there is any improvements left to be made, I suggest taking a look at cd caching. It seems to access the CD a lot more than the gentoo liveCDs while being used.

Other than that, great work! :D

I don't know why, but docache option is quite problematic with livecds made by catalyst tool. I don't know how Gentoo devs build their livecds but I think that they make them completely manually.

Hey your little processor might takes days, months! Why don't use distcc?

No other linux machines, I'm afraid. And I'm just too lazy to set up distcc on windows/cygwin. The pentium is my test-bench/compile server. It's not much, but any little bit helps.

It's building the locales now. Almost there. :P

Why don't you try Knoppix-Distcc?
Description from the site: "distccKNOPPIX is a directly bootable and self-configuring Linux system on a small (55MB) iso running a distccd daemon. It is a simple remastering of Knoppix running a distccd daemon and some general cleaning up/removal of unneeded packages/apps. Its obvious target is for those who have other machines at their hands, and for some reason or an other can not get a distccd daemon running on it."

Hope it helps :)

In altre parole, tutto sembra funzionare perfettamente.

ATM I'm unable to build amd64 version with catalyst. It fails at the beginning without reporting any errors. I've heard voices that Reiser4 is still unstable on 64bit Linux

1.4.4 and 1.4.2-stable works great here. Maybe you have mistyped something ?

Thank you lxnay for creating these Reiser4 LiveCDs.

I just grabbed newest edge and I'm going to set up fastest Linux box I've ever built :)

EDIT: Typos...

E quello presente sul tuo link http://lxnay.dnsalias.org/? :?:
E' comprensivo degli stage ? :?:
