I backed up my gentoo installation using partimage before trying to get drm working with a cvs version of xorg. Needless to say my system is now b0rked and I want to restore my installation from the backups. Previously when I've done this each partition (boot, root, home) was under 2gig but now the root partition has grown so is in 2 files (root.bzip2.000 and root.bzip2.001). I've tried selecting /mnt/samba/root.bzip2 (says image not found), /mnt/samba/root.bzip2.000 (fails at 99% saying cannot read block 0 from file) and the line:
Code: |
cat /mnt/samba/root.bzip2.000 /mnt/samba/root.bzip2.001 | partimage -ef0 /dev/hda3 stdin
which says that stdin is not a file. How do I get partimage to restore the 2 files into one partition? (And why has it split the files in the first place? I'm backing up onto NTFS which I think does not have a 2gig file size limit. Even FAT32 has a 4gig limit.) |

NTFS may not have a 2GB limit but Samba (SMB) very well may have problems with it... _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

Thanks, I thought it might be something like that.
I'm getting withdrawl symptoms from not being able to use my gentoo laptop! Has anyone any idea how to restore it? |
