Hello... After hours of searching the web and these forums, i've decided to try and ask =)
Now - my problem seems a little weird, and i can't deliver much info because of the lack of actual info from my system.
When exiting OpenGL applications like GLest, enemy-territory and the alike, it randomly crashes my comp completely - kernelpanic.
This i have experinced with both the GeForce MX200 and the GeForce FX5200.
There is not much point in giving out version numbers, because i have had these problems with almost any versions of anything with any form of optimizations (or without) within the last 1,5 years now. And i'm really tired of this problem - does anyone know a solution?

if i understand you correct: you are using the nvidia driver. you have a 2.6 kernel. 1,5 years expirience means you ahve try _everything_ and a bit more?
my suggestions:
- have you installed the correct nvidia-glx? should be the same version as nvidia-kernel. did you run opengl-update again?
- normaly i would say its an xorg configuration problem. did you remove all the dri stuff from your config? check also the log file wether the correct config is used. disabled agp, tvout etc?
- when its a kernel panik maybe your kernel is not configured correctly. did you try with disabled framebuffer, agpgart and of course DRI? DRI should never be enbled.
did you check the troubleshooting section of REAMDE.nvidia? its placed in /usr/share/docs/nvidia-xxxx/. _________________ The adopt an unanswered post initiative |

Thanks for your quick reply...
There were a couple of things on your list i hadn't tried - like migrating to 2.6 kernels
I haven't had that exact problem since i migrated - thanks... |
