|
|
I ran into something very strange. I have some mp3's on my comptuer that are the right size but xmms doesn't recognize them as being the correct length. It will be like -63423..43 but it will for some reason always be within the -67768 - 67767 rage with teh little decimals. It will play until the song runs out, but the scroling won't work. I checked to see if the mp3's are the correct file size and they are. This doesn't happen to everyone that I have, a very small manority. I am useing reiserfs 3.6 with jurnaling. I was a scan and a check and nothing was amis. Any ideas? |

What are you CFLAGS in etc/make.conf? -- That would be my only guess. |

xmms = old
if (xmms == old) {
use_beep-media-player();
}
In otherwords, theres a gtk2 port of xmms available called beep-media-player. _________________ "With every rise, there is a fall." |

is it any good? I mean I have used xmms for a really long time and it hasn't really screwed anything up. |

Yea, lots more features. You can use old xmms skins, winamp skins (excluding 5.0 or "modern" skins) and its own skins. It looks really great, and it has a new preferences/plugins management area too where you can switch skins, manage audio settings, enable/disable plugins.
You don't even have to restart the app when you install new skins. _________________ "With every rise, there is a fall." |

You might want to try doing what i did to solve my problem here https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2214548.html which also involved some mp3s displaying strange times like you are seeing it.
Making people switch to beep just because of a "small" problem like this is just wrong - XMMS works great (for me), beep is missing a lot of things that XMMS does or does better. Apart from 1337, fancy skins / graphics of course - but I don't really care about those |

Actually bmp has what xmms, has and many more features. Lots of the plugins from xmms are ported from beep-media-player anyways. I've seen people on the forums have more problems with xmms than beep-media-player. _________________ "With every rise, there is a fall." |
