Browsing Samba

I have emerged samba, but when i tybe <smb://...> in konqueror i get an error saying "Protocol not supported: smb"

Does anyone know how to fix this. I have some files on a network drive that i need to get onto this computer.

Thats probably because you didn't compiled kde package with the samba-flag. You can emerge "gentoolkit" and check with

equery uses kdebase kdenetwork

(kde 3.4 has samba flag only in kdebase, <kde3.4 has it in kdebase && kdenetwork)

so to enable it, either add "samba" in one of the configs or add it explicitly on the cmdline.

USE="samba" emerge -pv kdebase kdenetwork
