Is it safe to set CONFIG_PREEMPT with the recent kernels on amd64? Kernel help still says that it is untested on x86_64, I wonder if anybody tried this on amd64 and if there were any problems.

Seems to be working for me, I never even knew there were issues. _________________ Now the rainy season reminds me of Maria

Same here, been using preempt since 2.6.9-rsomething. Didn't notice any speed or latency improvement though.

I have found something that doesn't appear to work with PREEMPT on, unless someone can tell me differently of course!¬
mythtv, or more specifically, the ivtv dirivers for the Hauppauge 250 TV card do not appear to be happy with pre-empt enabled.

They work fine here (gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.9-r14 w/ preempt enabled, ivtv 0.3.0e installed by hand). |
