|

I have installed:
xorg version: 6.8.2-r1
nvidia-kernel version: 1.0.7167-r1
nvidia-glx version: 1.0.7167-r1
kde version: 3.4.0
Whats the best combination of xorg and nvidia drivers for enabling the tranparency and shadows in kde 3.4?
It runs fast enough with those installed but when resizing,maximising/minimising windows it often fails to repaint half of the windows area.
Best suggestions? |

There is no stable combination of drivers/X.org/QT for transparency at present time. |

So every one is getting repainting problems making the turning on of shadows and transparency in kde 3.4.0 completely unusable?
I know there probably isn't a "stable" combination yet, but I know when I tried out xcompmgr with kde 3.3.2 and xorg 6.8.1 before, the repainting had no problems.
So I guess what I'm really asking is could someone who has kde 3.4 + transparency working fine (minus the odd xorg crash) post the versions they are using. |

I remember reading KDE 3.4 used its own modified version of xcompmgr. If you're running xcompmgr by hand, try not doing so and see if kde handles it automatically. That may fix it. |

I'm not using xcompmgr with kde 3.4, was just to show that before kde had built in support I didn't have any problems with the repainting using xcompmgr (and older version of nvidia drivers and xorg) |
