I haved tried to install 2005.0 on my G5 2,5 GHz. It installs fine, but there seems to be a problem with ext2/3. i noticed the problem first when trying to mount my root ext3 partition. It did not work without supplying a type - which I never had to in the past. During the 1st boot it stopped and claimed that the partition was wrong - which it definately wasn't. It also claimed that it had to switch from ext3 to ext2 ...

Has anyone successfully installed 2005.0 on a G5 and has noticed any obnormal behaviour of ext2/3 ?

is this ppc or ppc64? i think the ppc iso has a buggy e2fsprogs package which needs you to specify ext3 explcit. so if your final install suffers from the same you probably used some precompiled packages that may be affected by that bug too. i suggest to recompile e2fsprogs and check if that fixes the problem.

It's right there in the handbook, in a pink box so everyone can see it:

Code:
Warning: Due to a bug in the e2fsprogs package, you need to explicitly use the mount -t ext3 option if you are using an ext3 filesystem.
