But I don't provide a kernel ebuild.........
Edit: oops, I'm used to packages on slackware. Also, nitro seems dead........ _________________ System: predatorbox

but i have a problem with remounting partitions.
I'm using xfs and when i want to reboot, after the last remount with read only on the root
partition(the last command before reset), the system stops.
This does only happen with your patchset, i tried my own patchset with only ck, bttv and some other little
patches and this remounts clean. I tried also the cko patchset, everything is fine.
Do you have any idea ?
Thanks

I don't use gentoo or XFS, so I wouldn't know what might be causing this....... but I'll look into it.
Edit: My current best answer is that XFS is flanky and has problems. You could try 2.6.12-rc2, which contains a large number of XFS fixes and see if this still happens. _________________ System: predatorbox

I never have had any problems with xfs and i am using it over a year or so.
2.6.11.[5|6].dark1 had the same problem...
as i wrote, my own patchset works without any problems.
maybe something wrong in one of the patches you build in
anyway, THANKS for your work!

Great work! I'm really enjoying the stability and features of the kernel patch you've built, it really makes life easier, when there is still a kernel patcher that offers a stable kernel. |

I would love to be able to use fbsplash with this kernel, but for some reason, I can't get it to patch correctly. If anyone knows of a version that might work correctly with this kernel, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks. |

I've explained this before, I'm not including vesafb-tng or fbsplash, end of story.
Edit: On the flip side, I'm a person who values stablity and I run every dark release on my machine. I try and make sure that what I'm adding works. _________________ System: predatorbox

I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but if I can't reproduce the problem myself its hard to know whats causing it. I can provide you with a broken out dark tree for you to reverse patches and see what works. If you find the problem that is causing it, I'd be happy to know what that is so I can reverse it. _________________ System: predatorbox

Yes, that would be nice I would try to reverse the patches step for step to see which patch causes the problem.
Thanks

Ok, www.dcaf-security.org/dark-tree.tar.gz
Note theres some extra patches in there that aren't in dark (e.g squashfs/unionfs) and some things I'm merging in dark3 (e.g staircase 10.7 update).
Edit: Good luck with finding the problem and report on what you find so I can work it out of dark in the next release.
Edit: Its wierd supporting a patchset.......... I guess supporting comes with users :\ _________________ System: predatorbox

I'm waiting to release 2.6.11.6-dark3 until I hear from Der_Kaplan on these XFS problems. If I don't hear anything by monday, I'll release it as is. _________________ System: predatorbox

Ok, an update on this. 2.6.11.7-dark1 is current in a "Mostly done" state, I'm doing my testing and such as of now. The changes here are that I added ac6 (minus the config_hz patch and the 2.6.11.6 patch) and some other minor things. _________________ System: predatorbox

At last i found the problem:
"bzcat 2.6.11-kj.patch.bz2 | grep -i xfs" shows me some little changes related with xfs.
After unpacking "http://coderock.org/kj/2.6.11-kj/2.6.11-kj_split.tar.bz2" i found the two diffs.
msleep-fs_xfs_linux-2.6_xfs_buf.patch
msleep_interruptible-fs_xfs_linux-2.6_xfs_super.patch
I reversed these 2 patches and everything is fine
Maybe i will try a kj-patched-only kernel to see, if this is a Janitor-patchset problem or a combination of
ck and other patches.
But for predatorfreaks patchset this is my working solution
Cheers

good too know, I'll remove the xfs patches in my rediff of kj for 2.6.11.7-dark1. Thanks for debugging this Der Kaplan. _________________ System: predatorbox
