Hi everyone. I just installed gentoo on my system and i am having some problems with the ethernet. First it's giving the famous netmount error. My network card is built into mobo it's a Marvell 88E8001 GbE Gigabit Lan PCI Controller. It worked fine with the livecd. I tried lsmod from the livecd but i don't see any specific modules that could pertain to my card. I also enabled everlything i could find in the kernel configurations in usr/src/linux. I am on a network with dhcp (which i enabled in cond.d/net). It's a linksys router and it gets my main computer and my laptop on the net with some computers getting onto the network for a while. At this point i am fresh out of ideas. I know this is a n00b question, but i figure it's ok because that's what I am. Thank you very much guys. |

cat /proc/pci
You should see your network card chipset listed. Then go into the kernel and find the driver then build it as a module or directly into the kernel. Your choice. |
