Hi,
I have a digital camera which uses Compact Flash cards. When I put them into my USB card reader, I can mount them using vfat as filesystem. There's a folder containing all the image files on the card. However, only three or four of the filenames are correct (something like img000123.jpg), the rest is a mess of question marks and letters from ancient, forgotten languages. I also tried iocharset=utf8, iso8859-1, but that only increased the mess on my filesystem. What's the correct way to mount that card so that ALL filenames are displayed correctly? _________________ "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one." |

While it is true that most of the time Camera cards will mount under vfat properly, I have heard of some implementations that are using 8 or 12 bit fat and don't mount with vfat. man mount and try these other archaic FS's....chances are that once you have the pics from your CF card, you should be able to reformat with FAT16 or FAT32 and your Camera will still read the card.
Not sure if this is your problem or not. |

I don't know either, since it DOES mount with vfat. But I'll try, also the reformatting thing. _________________ "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one." |
