Yeah, so thats pretty much what happens. Built in KDE multimedia stuff like juk and noatun bail out. And I get this message from artsd.
Code: |
ryan@MindStorm ~ $ artsd
unix_connect: can't connect to server (unix:/tmp/mcop-ryan/localhost-1847-425282ef)
tcp_connect: can't connect to server (tcp:localhost:32768)
Segmentation fault

I have arts in my use flags, and mpg123 is able to play sound just fine, using the alsa driver.
I've also tried revdep-rebuild, and it says that everything is ok.
[edit] I am now fairly certain that it is alsa's fault, since mplayer dies on a segfault with the option -ao alsa
This was related to the a bug in alsa at this thread. I have solved it with
Code: |
# echo ">=media-libs/alsa-lib-1.0.8" >> /etc/portage/package.mask
emerge alsa-lib

Just a heads up-
I had the same general problem, with seg faults in xmms, aplay, and gaim. This solved it.

Found the same problem, driving me crazy. After following your directions, all was golden. Now I can get back to the drum and bass streams in Amarok _________________ . . . tizzyd |
