hi,
i am getting this error and have no idea how to fix it.. googling around did not give me much answers? any openGL experts out there? :)
this is the error from an xterminal:
$ glxgears -v

glxinfo works fine:

as you can see glxinfo seems to be able the find a double buffered, etc, etc display that glxgears complains about, so i am confused what is going on.
i can post the xorg.conf and the log but seems a bit redundant (no errors in the logs)..let me know if those would help, thanks..

just by chance, i took at the "Group 0" from the config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and glxgears works now.
