After a kernel recompile I keep getting errors. Sound worked before (used the Gentoo doc on Alsa install).

I recompiled my current kernel to include CPIA support and VESA mode on console. (These where the only changes)

After i recompiled the kernel and built the modules i did a:
Code:
 emerge alsa

The system built the soundmodules like it should.
After the build i checked the /etc/modules.d/alsa (to check the settings). These where ok.

After this i tried a:
Code:
 modprobe snd-via82xx

this resulted in the following:
Code:

/lib/modules/2.4.19-gentoo-r10/kernel/drivers/sound/soundcore.o: unresolved symbol try_inc_mod_count_Rsmp_e6105b23

/lib/modules/2.4.19-gentoo-r10/kernel/drivers/sound/soundcore.o: insmod snd-via82xx failed

Does anyone know what i did wrong, or how i can ditch those "unresolved symbol" errors ?
Thanks in advance !

Current system:
VIA KT333 with VIA VT8233 Audio Controller
Gentoo kernel: 2.4.19-r10[/code]

Hmmm seem to have found the problem.....

I was rebuilding the 2.4.19-r10 build, but already emerged the 2.4.20-r1 build.
The kernel recompile was OK, but i think alsa used some files from the 2.4.20-r1 kernel (have to be some files that referenced the newer kernel).

I now rebuild the newer kernel and re-emerged alsa.
All went OK

Sorry to have been bothering you... Maybe someone else has the same problem and now sees the solution.... :D
