alcatel speedtouch 330 ppp0 problem

I get the following error:

PPP0:error fetching interface information , Device not found

I am using the speedtouchconf method. I have emerged ppp, linux-atm and speedtouch.
using the USE "atm" flag.

I run the speedtouchconf script and modem lights flash, pppd call adsl is run and i get the error above.

I'm having trouble doing modprobe ppp_generic , or modprobe pppoatm - cant find modules.

it seems to me i have not got something setup, be it ppp0 or something else.

any help is appreciated.

Check whether you have pppoatm module loaded. that should create you your ppp0.
