Hey guys
Okay, I'm trying to get transparency with this aterm terminal, and it doesnt seem to work on my computer. Does it have something to do with my graphics card? I'm using the ATI mobility radeon 9700. Let me know.
Thanks

use the -tr option when you call aterm for pseudotransparency.
with xcompmgr, I had to also use -sh 99 to get it to show up correctly.
what options are you passing to aterm?
I use mrxvt now and it does transparency quite well. |

My .Xdefaults file
Code: | aterm.geometry: 120x40
aterm.bordercolor: cyan
aterm.fading: 30
aterm.transparent: true
aterm.shading: 60
aterm.tinting: blue
aterm.scrollBar: true
aterm.transpscrollbar: true
aterm.scrollBar_floating: true
aterm.scrollBar_right: true
aterm.foreground: white
#aterm.background: black
aterm.saveLines: 10000
aterm.pointerColor: orange
aterm.termName: xterm
aterm.backspacekey: ^h
aterm.loginShell: true
aterm.colorBD: blue
aterm.colorUL: green

Hope it helps |

If you are using KDE you won't get transparency in aterm. The reason is that aterm takes its transparent background from the root window, while kde has a virtual background on top of the root window. (Correct me if I am wrong). aterm transparency works very well in xfce. |

Yes, I have both aterm & rxvt to do transparent in Xfce. With aterm, I can use the option "-shading <value>" to adjuct the background shading...

You can use transparency with aterm in KDE, I've been using it for a long time. |

I hit upon the solution today! I was using to achieve transparency, and I was presented with a black background. Instead, if I use then I can achieve an almost (negligible difference) transparent aterm. However, if I use , then I get back the same black background. |
