There is a nice mud client out there (and in portage) called mmucl. Would be nice with an icon for it.
However, it is currently lacking a logo so it can't be cut and pasted. :-(

I tried making a Mmucl logo/icon, see if you like it.
Mmucl

I also made two other MUD icons in the process.

Looks great.
Thanks Wolven, you are a saint.

(I showed this to the mmucl dev, hopefully he'll like it as much as I do)

So - why isn't there an ebuild for the gentoo-icon-set? (this being gentoo, after all :-))

Maybe this question has already been asked and/or answered, but I cant' look through 30 or so pages of one thread and the search function does not tell me on which page words occur ..

If there will be no ebuild - how can I insert these icons into kde (so that they replace the others without me changing one by one??)

thanks in advance!

Here are some new icons.

UT2004
(This one is for you Swift)

Gnome ALSA mixer
(It has been annoying me for a while that this one has been missing from the default set, so I made one)

Mozilla (star icon)

DOSBox
UAE
Wine

I think you get the default icon set if you:
Code:
# emerge gentoo-artwork

But it hasn't been update in a while. (The icon set) So you won't get the new icons people have been making with the emerge.

As for inserting the icons into KDE I think you have to do it manualy.

When you create an icon from a logo, you probably have to remove the background in order to receive transparency to put the logo into the l33t-bubble.

The problem is, you most probably get those nasty white (or whatever bg-color it was) frame around the logo.

Solution:
    open the logo with GIMP
Use the color picker tool to select the background Color.
Filters -> Colors -> Color to Alpha
hit OK and see the effect

(see http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Changing_Background_Color_1/ for whole tutorial)

Some examples:

grabbed logo from about screen: http://www.eternium.de/temp/kasablanca.png
all white removed manually: http://www.eternium.de/temp/kasablanca_alpha_bg.png
color to alpha: http://www.eternium.de/temp/kasablanca_alpha_2_bg.png

Hello again,

I wondered if it would be nice to have a square version of the gentoo icon. The circle has too much space wasted IMHO. All images are rectangles and most logos fit into rectangles. So I gave it a try.

Have a look at http://www.eternium.de/temp/l33tbox_FTP_kasablanca.png
and compare it with http://www.eternium.de/temp/l33t_FTP_kasablanca.png.

Tell me what you think.

Which of the icons are under the GPL?

I'm trying to figure out which icons have the same license as the rest of Gentoo ..

Thanks!

Guys,

Does anyone have a copy of the Gimp base file for creating these icons?

I'd like to make a few but all the links in the first few pages to the template file are broken :-(

Thanks

Robbie

I found some Nicotine l33t icons here
GQview is in the default icon set already.

Midnight Commander

w3m

I havent found any apropriate images for Lynx or Links so I have no icon for them. If you find one post the link here and I'll see what I can do.
