Hello,

I just installed Gentoo 2.6.11-r3 on an EPIA box, also installed xorg and
xine. When I played a DVD movies in xine, the display is very choppy. I did
a ps -alxw | grep xine and discovered that there are 18 instances of xine
running. Can someone explain why there are so many child processes? When I
ran xine on a RedHat 9 configuration it only showed one instance and the
display was fine, only the CPU usage was 70%-90%.

Regards,
Charles Chou

mplayer for me as well. xine just does not behave well period. if you want a gui install gmplayer. try 'pkill xine' and then run it from the commandline with something like 'xine dvd://device/video_ts/' or xine-ui, i forget which one it wants and i dont have it installed right now.
