Just something that I've noticed, about ever 3 hours, my system clock ends up being an extra 1/2 hour ahead. I was wondering what c ould be causeing this and how to fix it. I dual boot with windows, and the windows does not have this same problem, so I think I can rule out hardware. I'm using the 2.6.11-nitro2 kernel. Thx _________________ --Quote of the Month--

Do you have any ntp setup? If not, you can search these forums and find many ntp howto's. |

I'll be setting up ntp tp correct this issue, but I just wanted to mention that I have almost the same issue. The hardware seems fine but the linux clock is running way too fast I'm about 4 hours ahead in the past 5 days. It feels like a bug. |

I have had the same problems, have a look at clockspeed _________________ Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning. |

Happened to me also when I moved from 2.6.10 to .11.
If I remember correctly, the fix: Code: | make sure /etc/localtime points to right file in /usr/share/zoneinfo
$ rm /etc/adjtime
$ ntpdate -u pool.ntp.org
$ hwclock --systohc |

Running ntp is really overkill for what you're doing. Rdate on cron should be enough. _________________ Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun. - Ash, Army of Darkness |
