| I can't even register with Bugzilla to report a bug - no email. Writing about the bug in the forums has gotten me nothing but a condescending response from a developer. I am really curious here, what is the mechanism I should use to report serious breakages? No email, no way to emerge new packages, system in a completely unusable state and no guarantees that I will be able to fix things by reinstalling (exactly what I've done twice already) |

Use a differnt box or a differnt OS if you are dual booting 
You could try a copy of Knoppix... It's a live CD distro (it runs completly off of a CD-rom.. no install necissary, although having a linux swap partition will make it run much better...) It'll let you surf the web in order to do things...

Almost forgot... You could set up a temporary Yahoo.com or Hotmail.com email account... Or any other free email account that you can access from the web...
You could arrange for someone else to set up a bugzilla account for you....
Hmm... Or if you are really desperate and nothing else I've mentioned would work you could find a mailing list you can browse with an web browser (without signing up) and set the email address for it as your email address in the bugzilla sign up then just catch it on the mailing list when it first hits, log in to bugzilla and change your password right away... But that would be bad manors to the mailing list though

If you can do it from work/school or something similar, that would be good. Not everyone may have that option.
If you have no means to report a bug because your machine is broken, then the forums are probably your best bet. The developer might have been testy because they don't frequent the forums much, so would very likely not see the bug report. By mentioning it on the forums, there's hope that someone can file it on the bugzilla site.
If you were clear that you couldn't post it to bugzilla and the developer was still rude, then perhaps we should get klieber to PM them. Rudeness is not acceptable, period.

Do what everyone else does when their Linux distribution lets them down: quietly slink away and install an OS that works. You get a functional computer again, the users don't have to entertain the notion that their OS isn't perfect, and the distribution maintainer gets to point to this forum and say "Look, no complaints! We must really be doing a good job!" A big win for everyone.

Looking at the two posts you've made related to this problem, I don't see any error messages or even a detailed description of the problem. "GNOME is completely b0rked" is very difficult to accurately troubleshoot. Please read item #4 in the forum guidelines.
Second, you are assuming that what you are seeing is a bug. That may not be the case -- you could have CFLAGS that are too agressive or you could have corrupted something when you were trying to fix it. Again, more detailed troubleshooting information would be more helpful.
You are frustrated because your system isn't working. That's fine. But you need to help us help you.
This isn't a forums-specific issue, so I'm locking this thread (but leaving it in forums feedback for now). Troubleshooting suggestions and information should be posted to one of the two posts linked to above.
