Sorry really new to Gentoo took me about 5 days just to get it working. Followed threw all the forums and tried to resolve it my self but no luck.
This is the error I get when running "emerge kdebase"
!!! ERROR: kde-base/kdelibs-3.4.0 failed.
!!! Function kde_src_compile, Line 166, Exitcode 2
!!! died running emake, kde_src_compile:make
Should I remove kde3.2 first and then retry emerge. I have seen it in past topics for media libs but nothing that could realy help me. |

Dude you have to post more of the error message than that. |

Ooooh that sounds serious. And I'd guess the problem is not with KDE. _________________ "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln

Thanks I think.
Hope it is not to serios. What i have noticed is talk about a make or config file.
I did a GRP install of Gentoo and in the manual it states (correct me if I am wrong) that GRP users should not edit this file. Is that only during install? |

Ah gcc as provided by GRP eats babies. Try this:
Code: |
fix_libtool_files.sh 3.3.5 --oldarch i386-pc-linux-gnu

Thanks for the feedback /dev/Random
That seems to have done the trick. Busy emerging and looks like it has come a lot further. No wonder you are rated GURU.
So many commands i need to learn but so little time |

O yes that worked. KDE3.4 was well worth the wait and the effort.
Thanks /dev/random |
