I was doing some changes to some of my system's partitions, and in the big data shuffle, I managed to lose the contents of the /var partition. Obviously, this has caused some major problems with the system.
It boots, and will allow users to log in to the consoles (I'm typing this in Links right now), but metalog won't start, and the random number generator won't start, and I can't start an X server.
Is there an easy way to repair the damage I have done, or am I looking at a system reinstall? |

Thanks! That helped out a lot. I've managed to get everything put back together, and I'm doing an 'emerge -e world' right now. |
