I am using
Code:
www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.0.2  -debug +gnome -java -ldap -mozdevelop -moznoxft -mozsvg -mozxmlterm -xinerama -xprint
app-text/acroread-5.10  -cjk -noplugin
And this combination crashes often after I have looked at a pdf file. Closing the tab are clicking the back button will make firefox crash. Example output on the console:
Code:
$ firefox
No running windows found
Warning: Actions not found: addBookmark, viewBookmark, copy, undefined-key, find, findAgain, history, loadImages, openURL, mailNew, new, openFile, print, exit, reload, saveAs, paste, delete, cut, undo, historyItem, back, forward, abort, PageUp, PageDown
Warning: Actions not found: ManagerGadgetNextTabGroup, ManagerGadgetPrevTabGroup, DrawingAreaInput, addBookmark, viewBookmark, copy, undefined-key, find, findAgain, history, loadImages, openURL, mailNew, new, openFile, print, exit, reload, saveAs, paste, delete, cut, undo, historyItem, back, forward, abort, PageUp, PageDown

Warning: No action proc named "ManagerGadgetArm" is registered for widget "form"
/usr/libexec/mozilla-launcher: line 542:  2579 Segmentation fault      "$mozbin" "$@"
firefox-bin exited with non-zero status (139)

Anybody an idea if this depends on my gentoo system, or that I should go and report the bug at mozilla?
Second question, how do I enable the quality feedback option when I emerge firefox? Is there a use statement for this?
Code:
emerge --info
Password:

Are you using the ebuild? If so... don't. Just download the installer from mozilla and install that. It will recognize your old profiles.

I had nothing but trouble with the ebuilds and I stopped using them and went back to nightly builds. So, that is another option for you.

I guess I am using the ebuild, I did compile everything on my machine. And call me stubbern but I want to keep it that way. Unfortunately that is not possible for acroread....

Except for this acroread(?) issue, firefox and thunderbird work great on my machine!

You can download the firefox source and compile that yourself if you like. It comes in a linux flavor with cherries on top and all. :)

From http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/releases/1.0.html#issues:
Quote:
Firefox may hang when closing after viewing a PDF file in some older versions of the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug in. If you experience this make sure you are using the newest version of the plug in.

OK, found it, it is a known issue. Looks like acroread 5 is the issue. I am downloading verison 7 right now.

[edit1] that is an issue in windows.... I'll let you know if updating to 7 helps in Linux as well...
[edit2]I installed acroread 7 and that works, but not as plugin.
btw I needed to install openldap to get acroread running.
see post: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-311256 to get acroread to work as plugin. For the moment I disabled the plugin and call acroread7 as external program.
