I just acquired one of those IRDA dongles that plugs into a USB port, with hopes of syncing my Palm with it.
So, I added IRDA kernel support and emerged irda-utils, plugged it in and yay, it's recognised in dmesg and lsusb.
So... now what?
All the guides I can find seem to be aimed at built-in IR ports and a 2.4 kernel, with a warning that things have changed in the 2.6. There's no /dev nodes appearing, and pointing at ttyS2 (as is in the /etc/conf.d/irda file) gets me nowhere.
Are there ANY current guides that are aimed at USB IRDA rather than tacking it onto built-in IRDA guides as an afterthought? I've been searching around the topic for a few hours and I'm getting nowhere on my own. |
