I have gwenview and qiv installed, the problem is that they don't show animated gifs. The picture is there, but no animation - only the first "slide".
In mozilla (binary, not from source) it's ok.
Qiv gives this error: "GIF-LIB error: Wrong record type detected."
Gwenview simply don't animate the pictures
I have giflib 4.1.0-r3 and libungif 4.1.0-r1 (latest stable).
Have remerged them and qiv too, but no change.
Any ideas? |

If your looking for a nice image viewer check out XnView (www.xnview.org). There is no ebuild for it but the rpm installs very easily.
You can have a simple interface to just view a single image (xnview picture.jpg) or you can use a more ACDSee-like interface with. (xnview -browser). |

Thanks, I know XnView, but now I want to know the source of this problem...
[XnView is not installed now, so I can't tell if gif works with it or not.] |

And I thought you were asking how to turn animated gifs OFF not turning them ON.
But you might check the following in your pref.js (Mozilla preferences in .mozilla)
user_pref("image.animation_mode", "none");
will disable animated gifs and give you precisely the behavior you are describing. |

I'm not even sure if qiv supports animated gifs, thats why I suggested xnview as a replacement.
Qiv is a very tiny app, iv may have better support. |
