Non riesco ad attivare la modalità monitor sul mio portatile (Centrino) che monta la scheda wireless di intel.
Premetto che la scheda con il modulo ipw2200 funziona correttamente, ma non ha la modalità "monitor".
Ora, siccome Intel ha detto che implementarà questa funzione solo tra un po' di tempo (molto tempo) e io ho sentito in giro che ce un hack per far andare
comunque il modulo con la modalità "monitor", volevo sapere se qualcuno mi poteva aiutare.
Ho provato a compilare a manina il modulo ipw2200 decomentando un po' di cose nel Makefile... il modulo funziona e la modalità "monitor" è supportata, ma quando tento di abilitarla il computer si blocca.
Qualcuno mi puo dare gentilmente qualche dritta?

Puoi vederlo come la modalità promiscua delle reti wired.

prova iwconfig <tuodevice> mode Monitor
Ma se non e' supportato nel kernel per il tuo chipset dubito che vada. Btw la sintassi e' quella
N.B.: Ti occorrono i wireless-tools che sicuramente cmq avrai.

Il monitor mode non è supportato dai driver della ipw2200.

Eh si anche io ho provato, non crasha nulla ma non funziona. Del resto

This is what I get for testing on a network with no active users, I suppose. Try to cheat the system and it doesn't always work.
Sorry for the confusion. You can still use the hack to sort-of make your ipw2200 work with kismet, but it isn't going to work right, it'll send out probe reqs all the time, and you can get the same or better data out of ``iwlist scan''.
And, as always, the Intel guys are working on monitor mode. I'm sure it'll be released soon after its done, so don't give them a hard time that my little kluge wasn't all that afterall.

No, è solo che ogni tanto cerco di fare mente locale se ho aperto qualche 3d che poi non ho piu chiuso, benche il problema si è risolto o è stata trovata soluzione.

Ti posso assicurare che a me funziona utilizzando il firmaware masked..ora non sono sotto gentoo per dirti la versione perfetta...cmq segunedo la guida di kismet...sono riuscito a farla andare in MM.
