|
|
I'm making the dive into Linux, and am moving my primary computer entirely off WinXP and onto Gentoo.
I run several small websites for hobbies, and most of them are collaberative projects with other users. The catch is, I've been using MS FrontPage to do these sites, as the users I have been working with are not Webheads, and I have pretty much set them up where I can design and impliment the site, and they can edit it in FP with minimal difficulty once it's live.
Is there a Gentoo-useable alternative to FP that is good for such things? I'm mostly curious if there is a Linux-based editor that will work with FP extensions, so I don't have to lose any of the capabilities I already have in place.
I am NOT looking for answers like "Yeah, drop FP, it sux!". If I could, I would, but the reality of the situation is that I need to maintain FP as an option on the server for my other users, and I'd like to find a way that allows me to use what I have to the best of it's capabilities. (I'm using ICDSoft.com as my Hosting Provider, not my own hand-built-server, so I don't have much control over the server side of things at this point.) _________________ Geoffrey J. Schaller

I should mention I'm running KDE, not Gnome... will this affect the packages I choose? (It seems Bluefish is Gnome-dependant?) _________________ Geoffrey J. Schaller

I hear that Quanta is an okay WYSIWYG for KDE.
Personally, I think that Nvu is the best Linux WYSIWYG currently available. I can't wait for them to put in a good CSS editor, though... _________________ old outdated sig |

however, frontpage cannot do what quanta and bluefish doo
but the progrma you want
as i said before
is
NVU
take a look
u'll see
for for now, its free
they may charge for it later on _________________ "wa ma tawfiqi illah billah"

speaking of, anyone have an ebuild for nvu? |

There are a few alternatives on this list:
http://linuxshop.ru/linuxbegin/win-lin-soft-en/table.shtml
But i haven't tried any WYSIWYG editors yet... _________________ The fastest way to speed up a Windows machine is at 9.81 meters per second per second. |
