HI All !
Does anybody know how to boot from new 2005.0 Universal CD ?
I have trouble on Dell Latitude X300 with NEC ND-6500 DVD-RW Drive.
After unsuccessful boot i see topmost message: No boootable medium found. Waiting for new devices.
After selecting language I see: The root block device is unspecified orn not detected. Please specify a device to boot, or "shell" for a shell...
I think It is physically USB-Drive. Drive is inserted into MediaBase, I have latest BIOS installed.
Gentoo 2004.3 boots fine. I have no problem to boot Fedora or Windows XP with this drive.
I tried some boot options like gentoo noapic without success.
Any Ideas ????

If 2004.3 boots fine then I would forget about using the 2005.0 CD. You can download all the stage tarballs for 2005.0 off the internet and your install will turn out exactly the same no matter which CD you use. I actually prefer to use Knoppix on x86 systems so I can do other things while Gentoo is installing.
If you still really want to try the 2005.0 CD then the first thing I would try is the dopcmcia option. _________________ Command-line ACCEPT_KEYWORDS is considered harmful, use the package.* files.
