The timezone section of explains the procedure: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=7
Replace '/usr/share/zoneinfo/GMT' with '/usr/share/zoneinfo/US/Eastern'.
You'll also need to set the clock to the current time. Type 'man date' in a terminal for details or run '/etc/init.d/ntp-client restart' as root if you have an internet connection.

Just set your timezone and you should be fine.... _________________ I've never seen a purple cow...
