Hi. I've set up my own box as a gateway/firewall to the internet. I wondered how I could see what amount of bandwidth is being used, and how much data that have been downloaded this month etc.
It would also be great if I could in some way reserve an amount of bandwidth for my VoIP phone, so the sound doesnt lag when downloading.

I do believe that kind of information is in /sys. Reserving bandwidth can be done with QoS, google for WonderShaper. |

For monitoring you can try "darkstat". Nice webalike interface. |
