Hi...
How I prepare an external installation?
My laptop don't have cdrom and floppy...
I unplugged harddisk from the laptop computer and plugin to the usb2 of my desktop pc.
i think.. how i initialize the harddisk for a basic installation.. so next, i re-plugin the HD into laptop to continuing the installation... how? is it possible?
excuse me for my poor english... |

would be easier with an external cdrom. my labtop doesn't have floppy and cdrom either, but I used a usb cdrom to install from a LiveCD.
nevertheless it is makeable to install a basic system on the mentioned harddisc and continue / finalize usign the labtop. I did that a few times though for usual desktop pc's. I prepared installation during work, drive plugged in my workstation, and finalized the installation later on the target pc. Be wise when writing /etc/fstab and adding the bootmanager.
The rest ist perfectly explained in the install documentation. _________________ -- erol |

Forgot to say, you should use genkernel to build a kernel for the system with initrd + coldplug and hotplug. Should work with many hardware setups. _________________ -- erol |
