|
|
Hi,
I tried to set my eth2, which is a wireless Lan Adapter, to Master, so it acts as an acces Point. For some reason it won't work. Here's the error message:
Code: | Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device eth2 ; Operation not supported.
|
Has anyone any ideas? Or can some point out a good and easy to understand howto.
Thanks,
Chris |

It's an "orinoco silver" pcmcia card.
It works fine as "ad-hoc".

hrm, you might want to check the page the drivers for that card come from (I use an intel ipw2200) and see if their drivers even support that mode. It may be that they just haven't implemented it yet, but I don't know.

You need the hostap-driver to work in Master mode with that card iirc |

I emerged hostap-driver. Then I loaded all modules mentioned.
After that I tryed to set the mode to master. Got the same error, though.
Thanks,
