So again the question is... which hardware will or will not be supported? What control over power management will i have? Will it recognize the wirelless internet? and the gigabit adapter? I'm especially worried about the chipset and the pci-express graphics... will they be supported?
Thank you all in advance and i greatly aprreaciate all the help i get from this community mainly through irc |

A PowerMac G5 dual 2.5ghz would be a better buy for not so much more money. Linux in quite complete in terms of hardware support so far as I've seen; I wouldn't anticipate too many unfixable issues. _________________ << ^ | ~ >> |

I'm just really worried about pci-express... or is that the least of my worries. I guess even agp is a pci bus. So i guess pci-express will be aswell. Right?
What about my sound? It's intergrated intel but its high-definision. |

How ever i found this this. It says to use the gentoo alsa guide. This shouldnt be too hard should it? Has anyone else ever done this? Is there an alsa channel on irc where i can get help? Or would people in the gentoo channel be of enough assistance.
Thanks alot for all your help. I'm going to order that notebook soon its just i'm so worried that everything goes well and this is my first notebook. Oh and i did only switch to linux maybe 2 months ago but i aint going back .
One more thing. What kind of power management would i get with gentoo. Is there programs that i can download to speed step or lower the monitor brightness or something like that? Maybe clock down the video?
Thanks again! |

Just if anyone cares. This is the same laptop as the asus Z71V. I feel like an idiot for seriously looking at the MX6 as an option. Hypersonic PC and VoodooPC rebrand the asus Z71V. Everything i want in an asus Z71V Costs $800 less than the Hypersonic and $1200 less than the Voodoo. And those prices are definately justified. Sorry for getting off topic though. With extended batter this laptop can do up to 10 hours! It's awesome. Its the best selling whitebook right now since it is not officially sold as a notebook in the US. But who cares the whitebook from gentech can come with anything you want and has the asus warranty too Check it out! |
