I installed pingus throgh portage but it crashes as soon as a level starts. I receive lot of errors like
Code:
Error: XMLhelper: Encoding failed: ret: 4 in: 4 out: 4 str: ROT0
and fially when the game crashes i get something like
Code:
exit(EXIT_FAILURE);
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid next size (normal): 0x00000000008273a0 ***
Aborted

Has anybody got any suggestion on how to make it work? Thanks.

i dont have this problem and i dont have pingus but my guess is that you're using the unstable glibc or gcc (3.4). You could either try solving the problem by changing compiler and recompiling pingus or directly solve the free() issue with a patch of some sorts. Try looking around on the forums I'm pretty sure you'll find the solution.

My specific error is different - I just get a SIGSEGV.

If I debug it with gdb pingus, I get

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
[Switching to Thread 16384 (LWP 6075)]
0x00002aaaac0ce803 in memcpy () from /lib/libc.so.6

As soon as I start a level.

as I said, try re-emerging with a stable version of gcc, I was getting problems with libc when I used gcc 3.4

Download the binary... looks like the only way ATM. Yes, its a 32bit binary, but it runs.

Just get the 32 bit binary, you're not going to get a performance boost in FPS if you compile it in 64 bit mode anyways.
