i tried prelinking but got these errors, no idea what they mean or howto fix them. thanks

I would bet you still managed to prelink other libraries though. There's just some that won't do it. It's nothing to fret about though, for every lib that failed there were probably 200 that prelinked fine.
I know it's annoying to here this, but try man prelink. Unlike most man pages it's not to hard to follow.
There's an option in there that will allow you to view all of the files that were prelinked.
Also note some other useful options are:
-n which will allow you to do a dry run (like --pretend for emerge)
-v which will make it verbose and tell you all the libraries that are prelinked (otherwise, you only see the libs that give errors)
Also there is an option that lets you undo prelinks. |

They couldn't get prelinked probably because they are binaries. It is advised to add /opt to your PRELINK_PATH_MASK.
