Weird enemy territory keymap problem (azerty)

By default the Enemy territory keyboard control keys are in qwerty and I'm using azerty (eg w for forward needs to be z).

No problem for those keys, but when I try to alter the weapen keys some appear to be unknown to the game: I get (???) in the config screen.
So I edited the etconfig.cfg file myself, turns out a lot of keys were unknow, including for some reason the space bar

I can't realy figure this one out, since in X my keys work just fine .... Is there some setting perhaps in one of the enemy territory files that has to be altered ???

are you already using those keys elsewhere?
if your already using space for something else, it may not work. I could be completely misinterpreting this problem though
