hi,
sry for starting yet another topic about ati-drivers, but there is a total mess about this subject.
I use kernel 2.6.14-rc4 and I can't get media-video/ati-drivers-8.14.13-r2 to work. emerge is completed but kernel module does not load: | Code: | # modprobe fglrx
FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.14-rc4/video/fglrx.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
FATAL: Error running install command for fglrx
# dmesg | grep ^fglrx
fglrx: module license 'Proprietary. (C) 2002 - ATI Technologies, Starnberg, GERMANY' taints kernel.
fglrx: Unknown symbol verify_area |
I know that this problem is solved in ati-drivers-8.16.20-*, but I cant't emerge it or any other ebuild - all require eselect, which is masked...

Getting the latest drivers will probably mean unmasking them.

# echo "media-video/ati-drivers ~arch" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
# echo "media-video/ati-drivers-extra ~arch" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
note : ~arch ( ~x86, ~amd64 or other, but it must match yours )
