I have a Gentoo installation with Gnome installed on it. Now I emerged Fluxbox and then did this:

I went to the file: /etc/X11/gdm/Xsession

There I changed the last line in: exec /usr/portage/x11-wm/fluxbox

The normal line would be "exec /usr/local/bin/fluxbox" But I don't have that folder, and the only "fluxbox" folder is the one I mentioned above.

Then I did a chmod 700 on the Xsession file and made a folder .fluxbox

Now when I boot the computer and "gdm" I get the error that something is wrong and that gnome will boot in safe mode...

Sorry but if you install fluxbox using ebuild, then it should be in /usr/bin, not /usr/local/bin. In fact, almost all the binaries using emerge are resided in /usr/bin!!! And if you don't know where a command is, just use
Code:
whereis fluxbox

Excuse me but you're supposed to point it to a binary, not a directory and besides, that is not even a right directory...

After I have emerged fluxbox, I didn't have to modify or add anything. The next time I boot, fluxbox is on the menu!

But did you had KDE or gnome before you emerged Fluxbox?

I've changed the last line in the /etc/X11/gmd/Xsession file into: exec /usr/bin/fluxbox but still I get the same error..

Well that is also the point here, he try's to start fluxbox when I boot but then I get the error that he can't find base session script and that he will try the gnome failsafe session.
