Percent of compilation done in Portage

Is there any way to have portage report how much of a package it has already compiled, or in case of multiple packages compiled/installed. I understand that it takes different times on different computers for the same compilation but maybe theres a way to check how many/how large source files there are in the given package and check which file or which part of the file is being compiled and by that see how far along. This has probably been already suggested many times before but I haven't been able to find any info about it.
