Hi guys/girls,
Sorry for yet another ntp topic, but this one is a bit strange. I've read all the manuals I could find and tried various things (even changing scripts), but I can't seem to make ntp understand that I want to be in the CET timezone instead of UTC. Time is set correct, only 2 hours behind because of the timezone.
Hope you're able to help. Here's my rc.conf:
Code: |
# Set CLOCK to "UTC" if your system clock is set to UTC (also known as
# Greenwich Mean Time). If your clock is set to the local time, then set CLOCK
# to "local". This setting is used by the /etc/init.d/clock script.
CLOCK="local"
|
And my conf.d/ntpd:
Code: |
# Options to pass to the ntpd process
# Most people should leave this line alone ...
# however, if you know what you're doing, feel free to tweak
NTPDATE_WARN="y"
NTPDATE_CMD="ntpdate"
NTPD_OPTS=""
|
And my servers in ntp.conf:
Code: |
driftfile /var/lib/ntp/ntp.drift
server ntp1.theinternetone.net
restrict default nomodify nopeer
restrict 127.0.0.1
|
I've also used the "ln -sf" command to set my timezone to point to CET. However, I saw in the timezone directory, that both C6CEblabla and CET had a timezone-data-mark. So I deleted C6CE etc. but that didn't change anything. I notice that the timezone problem is related to the localtime variable, because the timezone is switched to UTC when I rerun the clock script.
Thanks!

don't make it harder than it has to be.
Code: | # ls /usr/share/zoneinfo/America
# rm /etc/localtime
# ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Chicago /etc/localtime
# date
|
Code: | # ntpdate -b -u pool.ntp.org |

Pffff, and now it works indeed!
Very strange it's never worked before though. Perhaps that localtime directory was wrong...it was indeed a directory and not a file. Anyway, thanks! |
