GTA3 + WineX CVS = bust

Yes, it's true, the latest (At least I -think- it was the WineX CVS upgrade) has toasted my ability to run GTA3 in Linux via WineX. I've tried reinstalling NVidia drivers, even downgrading the drivers and XF86 itself, but nothing has helped.

This post is essentially a plea to anybody who's gotten it to work with WineX. If possible could you compress your wine/ cvs-created directory after a make clean and get in contact with me on the message board here? I'm getting quite desperate to play GTA3 again and really the last thing I want to do is partition and install some form of Windows.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

Erm, I forgot to state my problem. When I run GTA3 from WineX it gives me a little popup window error with "Unhandled Exception" and some strings. The debug msg output is:

also, make a little cvs update script like mine, I auto make backups of old versions

, have 3 levels of backup, and update every cupple of days, make special backups if something worked better than usual.

when i try to run gta3 i get a messagt that win95 is missing...

Swift are you using a CVS checkout of WineX?
Check out their GTA3 support forum here. Unfortunately their forum doesn't help me at all, as the past few weeks of CVS builds have failed to produce a runnable WineX version.
