| l'airport extreme nn è ancora supportata? ma è possible farla funzionare nn a pieno regime? ci sarà un modo per farla andare di default senza i "particolarismi" della extreme... no? perchè altrimenti ci sarebbe un modulo airport? |

Airport e airport extreme sono due cose completamente diverse. La prima è una scheda .11b, la seconda .11g, sono due schede diverse con chipset ben diversi, non una semplice estensione l'una dell'altra. Progetti per far funzionare l'extreme anche su linux ce ne sono, ma ancora non hanno prodotto nulla di usabile e non mi sento di essere troppo fiducioso nemmeno per il futuro, almeno quello immediato...

scusate la domanda un po' banale ma supponiamo questo caso::
un pc con la gentoo installata e una scheda wireless funzionante........
e un ibook con l'airport extreme.........
si parlano normalmente.....no???
nel senso di fare la rete e condividere la connessione internet.................
perchè io tra uno o due mesetti mi vorrei comprare un ibook...........
e metterei una scheda pci wireless sul server con su la gentoo.............
cosi' mi condivido l'accesso intenet senza fili.................(per l'ibook) ovviamente............ |

No, esattamente.
Se sull'ibook c'e' gentoo non si "parlano" proprio, perche' come abbiamo piu' volte ripetuto non esistono drivers per la extreme sotto linux. Se usi osx ovviamente e' un altro discorso. Scusa la domanda, ma perche' un ibook con una scheda wifi non dovrebbe "parlare" con un pc che usa una scheda con lo stesso protocollo???

Basta che cerchi informazioni su come configurare una rete ad-hoc (non intendo dire "appositamente" ma proprio il tipo di rete  ).
