The error message I am getting is:
ext2_init: bad magic 0x0
aboot: mount of partition 1 failed
I am using Gentoo 2005.0.
My installation choices were:
partitioning (4GB SCSI Drive):
-- offset for aboot a start of drive--
sda1 3.9GB /
sda2 96MB swap
a side note, this system was running AlphaCore 0.9 (Fedora Core for Alpha) before I decided to install Gentoo, so I went with the same partitions from before, I just reformatted them with a new filesystem(s). I chose ReiserFS for the Gentoo system.
I used a Stage-3 install.
I built the kernel custom.
I installed aboot using emerge as in the handbook (emerge --usepkg aboot).
I followed the handbook for setting up aboot, and substituted the "2" partition for "1". Now the system won't boot.... any ideas??? |

Hi
Some more information would be nice...
Like the fstab and the aboot.conf file...
