Nvidia issue

I have a HP zv5000 laptop with a GeForce 4 MX go 32mb card in it. I emerged the 7174 drivers (I think) and whenever I modprobe nvidia I get a "No device found" error.

Anyone have any ideas I would love to get acceleration on this working. On a side note when will KDE 3.4 be released for portage and how do I upgrade to gcc-3.4.3 in emerge it keeps saying its masked but I deleted the package.mask file.
