!!! /var/tmp/portage/glib-2.6.3/work/glib-2.6.3/config.log
!!! ERROR: dev-libs/glib-2.6.3 failed.
!!! Function econf, Line 485, Exitcode 0

Please can you post more of the error - the last twenty lines or so should be ok. What you've posted there just says that something has gone wrong, but doesn't give any clues as to what. _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |

After you post the rest of the error. Post your /etc/make.conf as well. |

You might try to upgrade your version of pkgconfig.
Code: | emerge -upvD pkgconfig
(to test).
emerge -uvD pkgconfig
(to upgrade). |
Based on the error message you list it looks like the version you have installed is < 0.14. My system shows the installed version is 0.15. |

I had the same Problem. And it was simple to solve.
My cflags line in make.conf was wrong.
It was CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer" but my system only had a Pentium 3 Processor.
I corrected the line and everything was fine
