Hello,
I have a 24x CD writer which with k3b burns at just 3x write speed (before switching to gentoo from mandrake it worked fine),
any ideas on how I can improve this would be welcome. |

maybe your kernel (i hope your using 2.6 series) is compiled with cdrom scsi emulation, which can slow write speed afaik...
you don't need cdrom scsi emulation in 2.6. |

yeah, my friend helped me, I didn't have dma running, and the reason it wasn't running was because the ide drivers were compiled as modules and not loaded
