Hi.

Root password was lost, so I have problems with login to server : Gentoo x86-64 2.6.22+lilo

I tried to login in single user mode to it, by adding "single", "s", "1" to command line of lilo, but it no helped.
So I use this line "init=/bin/bash rw" ok.

Then: mount -o remount,rw /
mount /dev/sda5 /usr
passwd
I enter new pass, retype again, but had such error: Authtefication token manipulation error!
Tried to fix /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow files, but when saves "permission denied" error occuried.
I check chmod to /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow files - they are writeable!

Could you help me plz?

P.S. Sorry, my english no so good.

boot from a livecd, mount your existing installation and chroot to it, then run passwd to set the new password
