|
|
Hi all,
Well I have a strange problem using Compiz-Fusion on a Toshiba laptop with ATI card and with the Xfce4 Desktop Environment, but how to explain it ?
I have 1 panel with auto-hide property on the left of my desktop
When i want to make my panel to appear, I have to put my mouse over, but ~5 pixels back from the real left of my screen. And the same occurs if I move my panel to the right side of my desktop. If I move it to the top/bottom of the screen, I don't have this problem...
here is my revelant xorg.conf part:
Code: | Section "Device"
Option "hw_cursor"
Option "AGPMode" "4"
Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps"
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "ati"
VendorName "All"
BoardName "All"
EndSection |
I read on this forum one similar thing where the guy solved his problem by deactivating the wall desktop plugin in ccsm... But i don't have it enabled...
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Have a nice day,

I think this is because Compiz uses invisible windows to detect when you click on the edge of the screen. Your panels are probably lined up against these invisible windows.
I'm not sure how to disable them, but perhaps if you switch off everything that uses window edges as triggers it might help? |

Hi Malvineous, and thanks for your reply !
I made some tests and you were right: Compiz-Fusion uses some kind-of-overlay-windows to handle the cube rotation stuff...
So, i guess there is no way to have an hidden panel on the sides of a desktop when using compiz fusion...
Another "lack" from the Compiz-Fusion code... Sometimes, i miss Beryl so much...
Anyway, thank you again for your reply and have a good day,

There must be some way to do it - you could try posting to the compiz discussion list and see if anyone has any ideas there. You could also try upgrading to the latest Git version too, as there seem to be frequent fixes for things like this.
Does the problem go away if you disable the desktop cube? |

Hi,
Yes, disabling "rotate cube" plugin does the trick...
But the simplest way was to move the panel(s) to the top/bottom of the screen, allowing use of "rotate cube" plugin and hidden panel(s) too !
As i'm actualy in a lack of time, i cannot dig more further your other suggestions, sorry... Maybe later...
Anyway, thanks for your interest and have a good day,
