Just rebuilt Gentoo on my laptop and am having problems getting klaptop to behave as before.
Background:
This is the same kernel (vanilla 2.6.5) with the same '.config' and the same version of KDE (3.2.2).
Problem is that klaptop can't seem to enable any of the acpi options whereas before they were fine and i could use it to change cpu-freq and stuff.
I know it all works because i can manually change scaling_governers......just that klaptop won't enable the options.
I'm stuck, any ideas? _________________ www.iamthepenguin.com |

What do you mean with won't enable the options - changing it has no effect or you can't change it at all (buttons greyed out or so)? For the latter, there's a button in klaptop to have it run suid root, which is needed for it to work. Maybe that's of any help |

I'm having the exact same problem, though in my case the only governor I have turned on is the user space one. Nevertheless, as to my understanding that is the governor required for manually changing the CPU frequency from software, it should still work.
The chown and chmod done by the "Setup Helper Application" button to klaptop_acpi_helper both took, but running something like
Code: | klaptop_acpi_helpder --throttling 0 5 |
seems to do nothing, even though I can manually change the CPU frequency with
Code: | echo "5" > /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/throttling |
Any ideas? |
