Looks like a cool project, but can he use the graphics from the Zelda games without getting in to copyright trouble?

[...] So, I decided to try and create my own game using the graphics and ideas from Link to the Past and Four Swords.

I've seen one or two projects on HappyPenguin that have been using orginal graphics from comercial games getting flamed from here to hell for doing just that.
I don't mind personally, but the copyright holders might.

Thanks for the ebuild. Looks like an excellent project.

[Edit] It currently looks like you must be in the zeldasoe directory in order to play the game. Other than that the game plays just fine. [/edit]

You legally cannot use Zelda's name, characters, graphics and just about everything else as they are all under copyright so.. yeah, this guy is just giving Nintendo a lawsuit on a platter.

Graal was known as Zelda online, but nintento got wind that they were calling it that and threatened to sue em. So they changed the name and slowly began making their own tiles/GFX/ whatever you wanna call it. This game will most likely become a target if it becomes popular

Zelda Classic has been around for ages and they have either gone undetected or they are just plain lucky.

It needs a new ebuild to reflect the name change, sadly I tried and don't know how to fix it.

There's supposedly a Linux version that's been in beta testing for something like a year. It's apparently close to release.. but at this point, who knows.
